Autistic travel experiences

Introduction

The Evidence & Research team at the National Autistic Society are conducting a research project about Empowering Autistic Travel, funded by a grant from the Motability Foundation. The aim of this research is to explore the potential solutions to autistic people’s challenges with travelling by train, bus, taxi and other similar modes of transport. You can read more about the project here.

You may have filled out our previous survey in April/May. This second and main insight survey will help us to get a more in-depth understanding. We want to understand the issues autistic people experience while travelling, and how they could be resolved or prevented. If you or someone you know is autistic and you are at least 18 years old, we are keen to hear from you. The survey is open to people who use public transport or taxis, as well as people who avoid them because they are inaccessible.

The survey will take around 15-25 minutes depending on your responses, and at the end you will have the chance to enter our prize draw for a £100 shopping voucher. You can save your survey progress to continue later if you wish.

Sharing your views is voluntary and anonymous. You can read more about how we use and protect your data by visiting our privacy policy here. If you have any questions or would like to participate in a different way, please contact anna.taylor@nas.org.uk with the email subject ‘Empowering Autistic Travel’. We can offer a pdf version of the survey to print or read through, talk you through the questions over the phone, or help in another way you suggest.
