Bristol City Council is proposing to create a temporary walking, wheeling, cycling and scooting zone on a section of Springfield Avenue during Shirehampton Primary School’s drop off and pick up times.

The scheme would operate between 8:30 and 9:30 in the morning and between 2:30 and 3:30 in the afternoon. The closure would be in place Monday to Friday, during term-time only.

Non-essential vehicles would not be allowed to enter the School Streets zone during the morning and afternoon closures. Emergency vehicles, Blue Badge holders, and residents within the School Street zone with a valid School Streets permit would be exempt from these restrictions.

Please note, a permanent one-way system has also been proposed on Springfield Avenue between Burnham Road and Grove Leaze. This one-way system would be in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The proposed scheme would help to tackle congestion, unsafe parking, air pollution outside the school gates, and make it safer and easier to walk and wheel to school.
