Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG) Consultation Survey 2024

Introduction

The Local Authority is consulting with schools via an online survey to gather views on the local implementation of the schools’ National Funding Formula for 2025-26. This survey is run by Children's Services, Norfolk County Council. This is an important opportunity for us to come together as a system to design the right models for Norfolk children and young people. This year, in addition to the technical consultation, we want to undertake a broader listening exercise in relation to the SEN system in Norfolk, to gather as much feedback as possible from education leaders about what you want to see changed, enhanced or prioritised.

Please be aware that there are two parts to the consultation: first for all maintained and academy schools and trusts, and the second for maintained schools only.

This survey will be open for submissions between Tuesday 01 October and Thursday 24 October 2024. Responses will then be analysed, with results and recommendations presented to Norfolk Schools Forum on 19 November 2024. After this, Norfolk County Council's Cabinet will make recommendations on the proposals in January 2025, considering both the consultation responses and the view of Schools Forum, and the Full Council will make final decisions on the 2025-26 formula in February 2025.  Schools will be notified of their expected budget shares in line with DfE timescales.

Throughout the consultation window, we are running a series of briefing sessions. These are a valuable opportunity to ask questions and share your views; you can find time and venue details for both the face-to-face and the online sessions in our online calendar (opens in new window). We will also be publishing further information and summaries of questions raised at these sessions on the Norfolk Schools website (opens in new window).

Responding to the consultation

We would suggest that you allocate up to one hour to read supporting information and complete the survey. You can of course choose not to take part in the survey, stop responding at any time, return to subsequent questions at a later date or ignore any questions that you do not want to answer. Your responses to questions will be recorded once you move on to the next page. All responses are confidential and all data is stored in a password-protected electronic format – please read our general privacy notice (opens in a new window) for further information as to how your data is used and your rights.

Each school should be represented by only one single response. You will be asked to indicate the number of schools you are representing if you complete the survey on behalf of an academy trust or diocesan board, and the number of pupils represented by your organisation.

All responses must be received by 11:00 pm (23:00h) on Thursday 24 October 2024.

Thank you.
