This is an application form for a licence to deliberately kill, injure, capture (take), deliberately disturb, damage/destroy a breeding site/resting place or transport a European Protected Species.
Before you start
A completed Method Statement will be required for this application.
Licensed Nominated Ecologists that have not had a species licence from us before will require two references. These must be submitted using a
reference form (opens in new tab).
Your application will also need to include:
- a location map if not already included in the Method Statement (ideally 1:10,000 scale and/or a GIS layer such as Shapefile if available)
- details of any proposed Licensed Accredited Agents
- a species survey
- evidence to support the purpose of the work
- copies of any permissions or consents associated with the application
- any relevant correspondence if the work falls within or near a designated site
- a Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA) (if applicable)

Please note that we will not process your application until we have received all the requested documentation. Failure to provide adequate information will delay the processing of your application.
Applications are dealt with chronologically. This means they are processed according to when they were submitted, not according to the timing of the works. Please submit your application in good time before the proposed works.
Contact us only if your application poses an immediate risk to public health or safety. These types of applications can be prioritised if you can demonstrate an imminent risk.
Sharing your application
A copy of the completed application form will be sent to both the Lead Licensee and the Licensed Nominated Ecologist.
If this application is subject to any planning-related consent, a copy of the licence will be sent to the relevant planning authority for information.
Any information included in the application which the proposed Lead Licensee considers to be confidential for commercial reasons or affecting the proposed Lead Licensee’s intellectual property rights must be clearly marked as such.
If a licence is granted in respect of your application and planning permission is also required in respect of the activity for which the licence is required, a copy of your licence will be sent to the relevant planning authority for information.
Charges
You may have to pay a fee to amend a licence unless you are exempt.
