The National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) is developing a toolkit to address sexual harassment in the workplace and is seeking feedback on it. This toolkit is part of our ongoing efforts to educate and develop fire and rescue services (FRS) around equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) topics.
The toolkit aligns with a new statutory obligation for employers to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment of employees, effective from October 26, 2024. Previously, the NFCC issued a briefing note detailing this duty and steps FRS can take.
This consultation focuses on two new resources for the toolkit:
- Template Risk Assessment: Identifies workplace environments at risk of sexual harassment and outlines preventive steps.
- Policy Guidance: Supports the development of a workplace sexual harassment policy, including considerations for updating existing policies and a template model statement.
The NFCC is seeking feedback on the content and language of these resources before finalising them. Following consultation, the revised resources will also be adjusted to meet accessibility criteria.
If you would like to prepare your response, you can review the questions in advance. There is also a save and continue function that can be used throughout the consultation so that you can return to your response later and pick up where you left off.
This survey will close end of the day Wednesday 5 March 2025. If you have any questions, please contact Project Manager, Sundeep Moore.
Thank you for taking the time to respond to this consultation.
