Emma Wools is your Police and Crime Commissioner in South Wales. She would like to understand your views in relation to your contributions to policing via your Council Tax. 

About your Police & Crime Commissioner

 Emma was elected as your new Police and Crime Commissioner in May   2024.  She is responsible for making sure that South Wales Police delivers   an effective and efficient service and works with many organisations to   reduce crime and support victims. Acting as the bridge between the public   and the Police. 

Commissioner's responsibilities include:

  - Setting the local policing priorities, published in a Police and Crime Plan,   based on local priorities and crime data. Reporting annually on progress   against the plan.

  - Scrutinising, supporting and challenging the performance of South Wales Police and holding the Chief Constable to account.

- Setting the annual police budget and council tax precept, ensuring that funds are used effectively.

- Working with organisations and local communities to prevent crime and support victims.

Following the Commissioner’s recent consultation on the development of her Police & Crime Plan, she now needs to consider how the policing priorities you’ve told us are important need to be prioritised and budgeted for.
