Healthwatch is an independent organisation, and their role is to ensure that all voices are heard by gathering people’s experiences of health and social care services. Healthwatch will use this information to influence positive change within the health and social care system.
Healthwatch Westmorland & Furness and Healthwatch Cumberland are working together to review the involvement of people within a Section 42 safeguarding enquiry.
Alongside this, we want to hear from professionals who have been/are involved in a Section 42 safeguarding enquiry in the last 12 months and understand what is working well and if anything can be improved.
A report will be produced by summarising what we have heard from people, along with recommendations, and which will be presented to the Cumbria Adult Safeguarding Board. The final report will also be sent to Healthwatch England.
All information given will be held by Healthwatch Westmorland & Furness and Healthwatch Cumberland, and remain secure and confidential and will be used in line with the regulations of the Data Protection Act 2018. We will not pass your details on to any third parties, and it will not be used for marketing purposes.
Please answer the following questions from your professional perspective.
The Care Act describes 'safeguarding enquiries', but we are aware that local enquiries are often referred to as 'investigations'. For the purpose of this survey, we will be using the term 'safeguarding enquiry'.
