Alcohol Related Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Consultation

1. Introduction

0%

Over recent months, the council and its partner organisations have received a growing number of reports from residents and local businesses on the issue of alcohol related anti-social behaviour in St Helens Town Centre.

In order to work together with partners such as Merseyside Police and Change, Grow, Live (CGL) to address this issue and to ensure that all residents, visitors, and businesses can use public areas without concern, the council is reviewing the options and tools it has available to respond to this behaviour – including the potential use of a Public Space Protection Order for this location.

A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) is a legal tool available to councils under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and can be used to deal with a particular nuisance or problem in a specific area that is having a detrimental effect to the local community’s quality of life, by imposing conditions on the use of that area which apply to everyone.

Measures such as a PSPO are intended to help ensure that we can all use and enjoy public spaces, without anti-social behaviour taking place.

Before the council considers the introduction of any further measures, it would like to understand your views, concerns and experiences of alcohol related anti-social behaviour in St Helens Town Centre. This will ensure that any future measures introduced reflect the experiences and address the concerns that have been raised.

Your feedback is important as it will directly shape and influence the next steps in responding to this issue, so please complete this short survey before Wednesday 27 November 2024.
