North East and North Cumbria Secure Data Environment focus groups sign up form

The NHS in England is introducing a Secure Data Environment (SDE), an online system allowing selected universities and health research organisations to access people’s health records.

We are running some online focus groups so you can have your say in how NHS records are used for planning and research.

We are looking for people from the North East and North Cumbria  to take part in focus groups.

We have already carried out street surveys of over 1,500 people. They showed us some people have greater concerns about sharing their NHS records for research and planning.

This work is part of an ongoing conversation with the public about how their health and care records are used for research and planning. We are now looking to hear the views of some specific communities.

Focus groups

The focus groups will take place online and will involve around 8 people. They will take around 90 minutes.

Each participant will be paid £40 in vouchers as a thank you for their time.

The focus groups will ask how you feel sharing your NHS health records with researchers and data analysts. We are planning on holding the focus groups on the below dates and times.

  • Tuesday 25 March 6 - 7.30pm
  • Wednesday 26 March 12.30 – 2pm
  • Thursday 27 March 6 - 7.30pm
  • Tuesday 1 April 6 - 7.30pm
  • Wednesday 2 April 6 - 7.30pm
  • Friday 4 April 12.30 – 2pm

The closing date is midnight on Sunday 23 March. We will let you know if we are able to fit you into one of these focus groups by 24 March and you will be sent all the information you need to join the session online.
