Understanding Residential Multi-Occupancy Building Insurance Costs

Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey on building insurance costs for the Leasehold Advisory Service.

We are contacting you because we want to know how insurance premiums have changed since 2016, and the fire at Grenfell Tower in 2017. This survey will help collect information on how insurance premiums have changed for residents in blocks of flats (multi-occupancy buildings). There have been several changes in the building insurance market, and your contribution will help us to assess if they have been helpful for consumers. We intend to use the survey results to improve the availability and cost of insurance in the future. We suggest you find all the relevant records on the insurance costs for your building, such as the Buildings Insurance Certificate for each year if you hold them, before proceeding with the survey. You have the legal right to request information about the building insurance, including a copy of the policy. LEASE has a template letter which we hope you find useful.

The information you provide is essential in helping us represent your interests when we work with the Government.

Your participation in this survey is completely voluntary and confidential. We will anonymise your response, and we will not be sharing any personal data with third parties. Your anonymised responses may be included in the reporting. Data collected will be held on a secure password-protected server and only the main researcher will have access. Data will be stored for a maximum of 5 years, after which it will be destroyed.

If at any time you wish to remove your data from the survey, please contact us at dataprotection@lease-advice.org.
