Background Information
The Welsh Government is a member of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) Industrial Liaison Programme (ILP) and under its membership, the Welsh Government can extend access to the benefits of the ILP Services to entrepreneurs, businesses and individuals based in Wales. The benefits include access to the ILP web portal containing research papers, articles and other digital content, attendance at conferences, seminars, workshops, and events delivered online or in person in Wales, the UK or other global locations including at the university in Cambridge Massachusetts.
The Welsh Government will be the Data Controller for your personal information which will be collected and stored securely by Welsh Government.
What is the Lawful Basis for processing?
Your personal data is processed with your consent, which is obtained when you submit your response to the survey questions. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting WelshGovernmentILPMIT@gov.wales.
What personal information do we need to process?
We will need to collect and process your name, organisation, email, and telephone contact information. If you travel overseas, we will also need to collect and process your passport information.
Why do we need to process your personal data?
The purpose of collecting and processing this information is to allow you access to MIT ILP digital resources, for the marketing, delivery, and evaluation of your attendance at conferences, seminars, workshops, and events under Welsh Government’s membership of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Industrial Liaison Program (ILP).
Additionally, we will contact you usually by email and digital newsletter, to notify you of opportunities to engage with MIT ILP, to attend conferences, seminars, workshops or events and access wider resources published by MIT which may be of interest to you.
How long will we keep your personal information?
The Welsh Government is currently a member of the MIT ILP until 30 June 2027. Your details will be retained whilst the Welsh Government holds an active membership of MIT’s ILP, unless you request for your details to be removed from our database. Should Welsh Government renew its membership of ILP, we will continue to hold your data to deliver and evaluate ILP Services and to inform you of the latest news and opportunities to engage with MIT through ILP. If Welsh Government does not renew membership of ILP beyond June 2027 then you will be notified in writing and the database will be permanently deleted when the membership expires.
Will your personal information be shared?
As part of the WG ILP membership we may share or data with MIT which will result in your data flowing outside of the UK & EU.
Welsh Government will not share your personal information with others unless they are either working on our behalf, and only when they are providing services directly related to the delivery or for research or evaluation of ILP Services, or we are required to do so by law.
