LCCC Sustainability Strategy

1. Sustainability Strategy and Climate Action Plan

0%

Why are we consulting?

The Climate Change Act (Northern Ireland) 2022 (Act) set a target of an at least 100% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050 for Northern Ireland compared to baseline, along with interim targets including an at least 48% reduction in net emissions by 2030.

In order to reduce GHG emissions in Lisburn & Castlereagh the council has produced a Sustainability Strategy and Climate Action Plan as a roadmap that sets out our vision for a sustainable and resilient future with practical steps needed to minimise and mitigate against the impacts of climate change.

Initially the Sustainability Strategy and Climate Action Plan will be focused on the operational functions of the council but it is anticipated that the scope of the Action Plan will be extended in the future.

LCCC would like your views and comments on the Sustainability Strategy and Climate Action Plan.
