Gender Equity in Architecture

Survey Introduction

0%

This survey forms part of a project commissioned by RIBA, and delivered by The Fawcett Society, to explore the experiences of women who are either practising architects or have left the profession, before setting out key actions for meaningful, lasting change.

We’re asking women who work – or have worked – in architecture to fill out this survey about their experiences, so we can get an accurate picture of how gender inequality manifests itself throughout the industry. Your experiences will then inform our action plan to help RIBA drive progress and change within the profession.  The pace of change has been far too slow and this will provide a compelling, evidence-based, set of actions for RIBA to ensure the profession becomes a place where more women and underrepresented groups can thrive.

This survey is split into six sections:
- Your career journey in architecture
- Career progression
- Caring responsibilities
- Pay and recognition
- Discrimination
- What needs to change

It should take around 20 minutes to complete, with space to share your experiences in your own words.

This is an anonymous survey, when we are reporting we may include quotes from the survey, but we will take care to remove any identifying information you share with us. Your data will be held securely by The Fawcett Society, according to their data protection policy.

There is an option to enter a prize draw to win one of two £50 vouchers, allowing you to spend in 100s of shops, you will be taken to a separate page at the end of the survey to enter. This will not be associated with your survey answers, which will remain anonymous.

As part of this study, we are conducting a limited number of interviews to explore the themes in this survey in more depth. Each interviewee will receive a £50 voucher as a thank you for participating. If you are interested in taking part in an interview, please fill in this form, and our researcher will be in touch with more information.

If you have any issues filling out the survey or the interview form, please contact researcher, Rhianna, rhianna.mallia@fawcettsociety.org.uk who can support you to participate in a way that works for you.

Whether you have been practising for decades, are still studying, are newly qualified, are on a career break, or have left the profession, we want to hear from you. Please share this survey with your architecture networks so that we can collate the widest possible range of voices from women in the sector.
