This questionnaire, co-produced with young people in Jersey, investigates perceptions of voting in local elections. By completing this questionnaire and providing your email, you will be entered into a prize draw for one of two £100 vouchers for a local retailer of your choice, and receive a summary of the findings.
Before deciding to take part, please read the following information carefully and contact us if you have any questions.
Purpose of the Research
Despite Jersey lowering the voting age to 16 in 2007, only 17% of 16–34-year-olds voted in the 2022 General Election. This study explores young people’s perceptions of voting in Jersey, focusing on political engagement rather than political opinions. The aim is to provide recommendations to improve youth voter turnout for the 2026 elections.
Who Can Complete the Questionnaire?
You must be aged 18-24 and eligible to vote in Jersey. Your insights will help us to understand youth voting behaviour.
Do I Have to Take Part?
Participation is voluntary. Responses are anonymous and cannot be withdrawn after submission.
What Will Happen If I Take Part?
You will complete a questionnaire on your personal views and experiences of voting in Jersey. No identifiable information will be collected, and you will not be contacted for future research.
Risks and Benefits
There are no direct benefits, but your input will help improve voter outreach and participation.

Confidentiality
All the information that we collect about you during the course of the research will be kept strictly confidential. You will not be able to be identified in any ensuing reports or publications and your data will be anonymised.
What Will Happen to the Research Results?
You are invited to participate in a research project as part of an undergraduate dissertation (BASc). The findings from this questionnaire will contribute to this dissertation. All data will remain within the EEA and will not be retained beyond August 2025 unless considered for publication.
