The Mortgage and Landlord Possession (MLP) publication presents the latest statistics on the numbers of mortgage and landlord possession actions in the county courts of England and Wales. These statistics are a leading indicator of the number of properties to be repossessed and the main source of sub-national possession information. In addition to monitoring court workloads, they are used to assist in the development, monitoring and evaluation of policy both nationally and locally.
The statistical release is published each quarter and consists of a set of documents:
- The main bulletin, which provides key figures on Claims, Orders, Warrants Repossessions and Timeliness with graphs, explanation and commentary on these Court processes.
- A set of main tables, provided as spreadsheets, which give more detailed figures and full time-series for each area
- A more detailed set of underlying data, provided in the form of a CSV (comma separated variables) file to facilitate detailed analysis using pivot tables, and re-use of the data using a variety of software packages.
- Guidance on how to use this underlying data is also provided alongside it.
- In addition, a data visualisation tool is published through Tableau Public which allows users to interrogate the data easily.
We currently publish these statistics 4 times a year and want to ensure these outputs are understood and valued by all of our end users. We are therefore seeking to learn more about how stakeholders use the statistics. This will help us prioritise improvements on what our stakeholders find useful. You are invited to please complete this
10 minute online survey, by 14th November.
Next steps:
MOJ will consider all responses to the survey questions and report back on the findings and conclusions after the survey has closed. Although we can’t guarantee that we can do all suggestions as it will be resource-dependent, we will prioritise them and look into what is feasible based on data, resources, and timescales.
Thank you for providing your views and helping MOJ improve the service they provide.
