ABOUT THE MEN'S MENTAL HEALTH PROGRAMME

Between 2024 and 2026, Artlift will provide a range of courses, residencies and projects developed with and for men who would like to boost their sense of wellbeing.

This form helps us capture information required to administrate the programme and to support reporting back to our funders. Please complete ALL sections.

INFORMATION & CRITERIA:

Artlift offers non-clinical courses in community or cultural venues. Sessions are free, and materials will be provided. No artistic skills or talent are necessary.

We will be developing a range of courses in different parts of the county over the two years. Below is information on the first course we’re launching in 2024:

'YES, BIG MAN'                                                                                  

Location: first floor, Jolt Studios, 27 St Adate Street, Kings Square, Gloucester GL1 1RP

Timing: 8 x 2-hour sessions on Saturdays 11am – 1pm from 17th October – 7th December

Yes, Big Man includes:

  • A chance to get creative and meet others (if in a group of c. 7-12 men) over 8 x 2-hour sessions.
  • Creative Check-ins (one-to-one conversations) with a specially-trained Artist Facilitator to help embed and sustain creative activities.
  • A Move On plan to help the participant continue to use arts as a tool and to meet up with others (if they wish) to support ongoing improved wellbeing.

The course is for men who are:

  • Currently finding life challenging, potentially due to depression, anxiety, health conditions, addiction and/or life changes
  • Registered with  a GP in Gloucestershire
  • Comfortable in a group setting
  • Able to follow simple instructions or demonstrations
  • Committed to attending as many of the sessions as possible

If you can answer ‘yes’ to, or are unsure about the following questions, a non-clinical Arts on Prescription service is unlikely to be suitable for the person you are referring (if you’re unsure, please don’t hesitate to call us):

  • They are currently experiencing any symptoms of psychosis, such as delusional thoughts
  • They are currently feeling suicidal
