You must be aged 18 or older to participate in this study. The information in this consent form is to allow you to decide whether you want to be in this research study. Please take time to consider the information carefully and contact the researcher if you have any questions.
What would taking part involve?
If you agree to take part in this study, you will complete an anonymous online survey. The survey includes questions about attitudes towards animals and requires you to read a 150 word piece of text.
The survey should take you about 5-10 minutes to complete.
Benefits
If you choose to, you can provide your email address to win a £50 prize. Winners will be contacted in February 2025. You will need a PayPal account to receive the money.
Risks
There are no known foreseeable risks involved in taking part in this study. However, there may be questions that you feel uncomfortable answering. In this case, you don't need to answer them.
This study is covered by ethical approval from the University of Exeter Biosciences Ethics Review Board.
Participation
Your participation in this study is voluntary and anonymous and you may skip questions that you do not wish to answer. However, after you submit the survey we cannot remove your responses as we will not know which responses are yours. If you wish to change your mind during your completion of the survey, simply close the tab and your previous responses will not be stored.
Confidentiality
The University of Exeter processes personal data for the purposes of carrying out research in the public interest. The University will endeavour to be transparent about its processing of your personal data. The survey is anonymous, and your responses cannot be linked to you, your electronic device, or email address. Please do not include your name or any other information that could be used to identify you in your survey response.
The anonymous information will be stored securely in SmartSurvey on a password protected computer and will be used in a dissertation and a presentation.
If you choose to provide your email address for the chance to win £50, this will be stored separately from your survey responses and will not be shared.
