The National Travel Survey (NTS) is a household survey of personal travel, from data collected via interviews and a seven-day travel diary, which enables analysis of patterns and trends.
In April 2024, the Department for Transport (DfT) has, for the first time, released National Travel Survey mid-year estimates. This release combines data from the last six months of 2022 with data from the first six months of 2023. It is intended to provide a faster, early indication of the latest trends in personal transport and is focused on a small set of the most-used statistical tables from the regular annual release.
The NTS statistics team is seeking feedback on this new mid-year release and will determine whether it should continue in future years based on an assessment of its value to users compared to the cost of producing an additional release per year.
This short survey will allow NTS users to provide their views on the value of these mid-year estimates and whether this publication meets their needs. Any feedback provided will help inform the future design and development of this statistical release.
