Request to change the vessel on a permit to fish for Whelks (Buccinum undatum) with pots in the Welsh zone
The Whelk Fishing Permit (Wales) Order 2021 applies in relation to Wales and the Welsh zone including the area of the Welsh zone that lies beyond the seaward limits of the territorial sea.
Please note
- The Whelk Fishing Permit (Wales) Order 2021 makes provision for a permitting regime in relation to UK and foreign vessels fishing for whelk with pots in the Welsh Zone (the Welsh inshore region and the Welsh offshore region).
- Where a vessel is owned by more than one person, a single request is required which details all of the owners. An updated permit may be issued in duplicate to all joint owners.
- You must ensure all parts of the form are accurately completed and returned to Welsh Government. Forms with missing information will not be processed until the information is received.
- You will be issued with an updated permit within 20 working days of our receipt of a valid request.
- The new vessel cannot fish for whelk in the Welsh zone until the updated permit is received.
- There will be no fee for this service.
- Providing false information or making a false statement is a breach of The Whelk Fishing Permit (Wales) Order 2021 and may result in enforcement action.
- Further information may be found in the Whelk fishery guidance on GOV.WALES.
