Mental Health Audit Tool – Education & Training Provider Self-Assessment

Introduction/Context:

The rise in children and young people with mental health issues is a challenge both nationally and in Norfolk. Children and young people's mental health matters, not only for the individual and their family, but for society as a whole. Schools, colleges and other learning providers play a key role in identifying and ensuring that children and young people with mental health issues are supported. A Children Services Council Members Group which reviewed access to support and interventions for children's emotional health and wellbeing has asked the Education & Training Strategy Group to take forward a recommendation to undertake 'an evaluation of best practice in Norfolk in connection to mental health and emotional wellbeing activity in schools. This should then be used to inform the re-design, where necessary, of existing CAMHS services'.

Definition of mental health:

For the purpose of completing this survey we are using the following definition of mental health: Mental health is a state of well-being in which an individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.

Aims of the survey:

  • To map what is being provided
  • To identify best practice
  • To identify areas for development and collaborative working
  • To make services more accessible

Reporting back: the responses to the survey will be collated and analysed and reported back to learning provider groups (NPHA, NSEL, NASSH, College Principals Group, NALP) and to the Education & Training Strategy Group.

Deadline for completion: 21st April 2017
