This survey is seeking your views on your organisation’s transport resilience capabilities, including current strengths, gaps and areas for improvement. The evidence you provide will help the Department for Transport develop a Transport Resilience Strategy and Delivery Plan to increase resilience across the transport sector. Your personal data collected through this survey is processed in line with our online forms, surveys and consultations privacy notice.
"The risks we face are ever changing, and our assessments must keep pace. Events last year underscored the importance of anticipating and understanding these risks. Whether that was disorder on the streets or the impact of severe weather. The CrowdStrike IT outage revealed the widespread impacts of technology failure on services essential to our daily lives. Elsewhere we have seen the devastating floods in Valencia, and huge wildfires in the US, underlining the risks different countries face." - Rt Hon Pat McFadden MP, UK Government National Risk Register 2025
The Department for Transport is seeking to develop a short Resilience Strategy and delivery-focused action plan to support the transport sector to improve its resilience to a range of risks. Strong resilience means that we are better prepared to prevent incidents before they happen, mitigate their impact when they do and respond in a robust, coordinated manner when called upon. Given the number of different risks we face we are committed to making the sector as resilient as possible. To ensure the strategy and delivery plan will be effective and targeted at the right areas to increase resilience, the Transport Resilience Team want to hear from you. We are keen to understand the risks that most affect you, the capabilities and mechanisms you currently have in place to tackle them, and how we can best support you and the wider sector to improve our resilience even further.
It is extremely important that you answer questions accurately and honestly. We would like to stress that the purpose of this survey is not to assess your organisation individually, but to build a picture of the sector as a whole and identify gaps where the Government can provide support and direction. We will not be using the information for any other purpose and your responses will not be shared further.
This survey covers a large number of topics and will take approximately 45 minutes to complete. We are keen to get as rich a response as possible and would encourage you to seek views from others within your organisation to inform your responses, however, please ensure we receive only one response from your organisation. We are aware this is a significant time commitment and appreciate your assistance and answers.
This survey will be live until COP Friday 18th April 2025. If you feel you would benefit from a 1-2-1 discussion or further assistance, please email transportresilience@dft.gov.uk and a member of the team will assist you.
Please note, if you want to close the survey prior to completing you must press save and provide an email address for a personalised link to be sent for you to continue at a later date.
